Your Questions …Our Answers
Isn’t my furnace heating up?
First, assess your thermostat: is it programmed properly so that your furnace will kick? Is the temperature collection? Have you inadvertently switched it to”Cool” rather than”Heat”? Make sure the gas and pilot light are around as well.
Is my furnace cycling on and off too frequently?
Ordinarily, your furnace should cycle on and off no more than three to six times an hour if it’s working correctly. When it’s biking more than this, you’re wasting money on your energy bills. Check your air filters to be certain they are not clogged. A dirty air filter backs warm air into the furnace, which makes it turn off until your house warms up. An improperly programmed thermostat might be the offender.
My heater does not work?
First, assess your thermostat: is it programmed properly for your furnace will kick on? Do the batteries need to be altered? Are the batteries wrongly? Is the temperature collection? Perhaps you have accidentally changed it to “Cool” instead of “Heat”? Be certain that the gas and pilot light is on also.
Does my furnace need to be replaced?
Replacing your furnace can seem to be a huge expense, and it is understandable to want to find the longest possible lifespan from your heating system. In spite of routine, professional care, most furnaces only last 18 to 20 decades. A poorly-maintained furnace will not last nearly that long. Beyond that, old and run-down furnaces can be expensive to keep than to replace. If your furnace has seen better days, it will run up your energy bills more every winter while costing you to repair when it breaks. Older furnaces, even at their best, are generally less effective than their modern, high-efficiency counterparts. Replacing your furnace can be a wise investment, particularly in a place like Western New York, which will be known for harsh winters.
Does my furnace want upkeep?
When was the last time that you had your furnace inspected? If you’re having difficulty answering that question, then you likely need a professional HVAC contractor to come to take a look. Furnaces need to be inspected once a year, ideally before winter. A trained technician should readily be able to tackle any common problems so that your furnace works well without running up your energy bills.
My heating bills are too large?
An inefficient, run-down heating system costs more to heat your own homeless. It is a lose-lose situation. Routine maintenance is the best approach to ensure that your furnace does not cost you longer. Replacing air filters is one of the easiest DIY fixes a homeowner can do, and it can reap dividends over time.
“Due to the death of our AC unit (21yrs old) I was in a pickle to get it fixed fast with the NE heat and humidity ramping up. I logged onto Angie’s list and started my search and found a few repair services. Doctor’s Plumbers picked up the phone immediately and came out to diagnose the problem. They were out promptly, and Very professional. Itemized estimates. Had a much more reasonable price and a better product. I think the best thing I can say is that I am hiring them for another job. They do things correctly! Hire them you will not be sorry. Unfortunately, the “patient” was terminal and needed to be fully replaced. Dr. Plumbers gave me a few options for equipment and to my surprise said that the work could be completed the same day. We agreed on a price and off to work they went. The AC condenser and Compressor units were replaced, and by7 pm everything was buttoned up and done. Fantastic job guys, I know it was a hot one, thanks again!”
